NORTH MIAMI-DADE, FLA. (WSVN) – A stretch of Interstate 95 in North Miami-Dade has reopened to traffic housts after, authorities said, two people were killed in a crash along the southbound express lanes.

Florida Highway Patrol troopers and Miami-Dade Fire Rescue crews responded to the scene just north of Miami Gardens Drive just before 3:30 p.m., Monday.

According to FHP, the crash involved a Dodge pickup truck and a Saturn sedan.

The two occupants inside of the Saturn were pronounced dead on the scene.

Troopers shut down southbound I-95 at Ives Dairy Road for several hours to investigate the fatal crash. The lanes have since reopened.

Aerial footage captured a white truck on the right shoulder of the interstate near the crash scene. It is not yet clear whether or not that vehicle was involved.

Crews have extricated the bodies of the two deceased victims. A van belonging to the Miami-Dade Medical Examiner also arrived on the scene.

The cause of the crash is under investigation.
